Wow!

April 25, 2010

Baby's now the size of a watermelon! The last bits of vernix caseosa (the white goo keeping baby's skin moist) and lanugo (downy hair) are slowly shedding into your amniotic fluid. Baby's head is about the same circumference as her abdomen, and her head could be covered in an inch or so of hair

How far along: 38 weeks 2 days!

Total weight gain/loss: +24lbs, I lost weight last week, probably because I wasn’t as swollen

Maternity clothes: Yes, and some of them are getting really tight.  It’s hard to find shirts now in my wardrobe that cover the bottom of the belly.

Stretch marks: Yes, and they are ugly and itchy!

Sleep: Not so good, the cat wants to sleep on or near me and I wake up 2 to 3 times a night to use the potty.

Best moment this week: STARTING MATERNITY LEAVE!

Movement: She’s running out of room now so her movements are different. She also has a much different sleep pattern.

Food cravings: Chocolate, Plan B burgers, tater tots and pickles! Anything really, I’m pretty hungry all the time.

Belly button in or out?: In but very shallow, totally skeeving me out!

What I miss: Being comfortable

What I am looking forward to: Meeting our baby girl.  I am so excited that she can visit us any day now really.  I’m also terrified of labor but more excited than anything.

Weekly Wisdom: Try to smile and nod when women give you birth advice, it’s like telling a woman planning her wedding that all that money she’s spending is going to waste.  It’s falling on deaf ears and most of the time, the momma advice just scares me.

Milestones: Full term (last week) and maternity leave starting!
